Bouchercon Briefing
I’m at the annual mystery convention Bouchercon, this year in Calgary.
Hundreds (thousands?) of mystery fans and writers milling about the convention center, bright red name badges slung around their necks. Listening to Louise Penny and Mark Greaney, attending panels about everything from the definition of noir to the most effective way to poison a person (and get away with it). And, of course, buying books. So many books!
As readers of my newsletter know, one of the things that I love more than anything else is pitching books to people in person. I love meeting them, connecting with them, talking about my books, and maybe even selling them.
I’ve met so many interesting people, sold more than fifty books, and learned so much about the way the publishing industry has changed in just the last five years.
